    Description

This is a Schneider/Goerz 16.5"/420mm f9.5 Red Dot Artar Apochromat, No. 064, in an Ilex No. 5 shutter in outstanding condition. It was recently mounted onto a 6x6 Deardorff board by S. K. Grimes. "Schneider/Goerz" means it is the initial [and legendary] Goerz Red Dot Artar design, but Schneider eventually bought Goerz, so, according to the previous owner, it was produced by Schneider. It should, therefore, be coated, though I cannot verify that by looking at the lens. As noted, this lens is in outstanding condition. I do not see much sign of use anywhere. Everything functions as it should. The glass looks crystal clear except for the inevitable internal dust that one has to expect in a lens of this vintage, and even there is it only very fine, hard to see. Nothing serious. No scratches/fungus/haze. The shutter appears to be functioning fully. A few minor scratches on the face of the shutter. That's about all that I can see. For a lens this vintage, I do think it is fair to list it as "outstanding." I am sure it will serve you very well. I bought it for my Deardorff V8, but then decided on a 360mm Sinaron instead. Hence my reason for selling. It comes with f/r caps and a locking shutter release. I will be shipping from Earlysville, VA 22936. Shipping weight will be 3+ lbs.
Ebay has been a wonderful thing for me. It has enabled me to use some of the finest photographic and stereo gear [among other things] ever made when I never could have even dreamed of affording it new. I am pleased with my feedback record and I have had only very few unpleasant experiences. I will do everything I can to make this a pleasant experience for you. If an issue does arise, I will work with you until it is solved. I do accept returns if you are disappointed for understandable reason. I want ebay to remain a pleasant thing for all of us. I am away fairly frequently so there might be a delay of a few days or longer in shipping. I will let you know if that is the case in this purchase. Every item is packed carefully either in its factory carton, or sealed in plastic in a generic carton and surrounded by peanuts/bubble wrap/wrapping paper. The carton is then usually sealed with duct tape. I have been buying and selling on ebay for twenty years now so I have lots of experience with shipping. I usually ship USPS Priority, which I have found to be very reliable over the years of my using it.     International buyers: please do not ask me to engage in deception in order to bring down your cost. I fully understand your desire to do so, but I am not comfortable engaging in deception, whether with eBay or with your country's import taxes.
