    I believe it to be silver plate, not solid sterling, but I encourage you to research that, it is a well known piece of silver. I love it, but I am moving and have to let go of some things. Shipped free with USPS First Class.
    The weight is 8.2 ounces, and it measures 1.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. The bottom has the original black surface protective fabric. It had a pretty patina on it, but I gently cleaned that. There is still a tiny bit around the tail and base. I did not want to damage the black fabric, so you can see the patina there. No gouges, no noticeable scratches or pitting. It is solid metal, a great little paperweight.
