Early post-war Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 5.8cm (58mm) f/2 manual focusing lens with Exakta mount. Can be easily used on many modern cameras with a cheap adapter available on eBay.
The lens is in excellent condition for its age. The glass is free from scratches, fungus, haze, minimal internal dust and several tiny air bubbles that are normal and were considered a sign of the best optical glass produced at its time. The front glass has some light cleaning marks, typical for this lens because of its early soft Zeiss T coatings and noticeable only with a flashlight. The rear glass is free from any marks. This lens is well centered with excellent sharpness for its type.
Mechanically it had been cleaned and re-lubricated with synthetic helicoid grease, so the focusing is easy and smooth. Aperture ring rotates easily as well, and the diaphragm blades are free from oil.
Cosmetically is shows some light signs of use consistent with its age, overall looks nice and shiny. It comes with a front and rear cap.
