Carl Zeiss Jena 58mm f2 Biotar “T” Lens, M42 Mount, 12 Blade Aperature, A+ Glass

For auction today, I offer: a very nice example of an iconic Zeiss lens: the 58mm Biotar- this one with the M42 screw mount!
Yes, this is the same lens that is renowned for its “swirly background” when shot at f/2. It is a great all around lens, that gets you just a bit closer than a 50mm. It also brings the background closer than a 50mm; particularly effective with that swirly effect!
The red “T” on the lens front means that the glass is multi-coated. It was Zeiss that began multi-coating lens glass- many years before WWII began. In my experience shooting with “T” coated lenses- you can literally point the lens at/towards the sun and shoot- without losing image quality!
Lens glass is totally clean & clear- no scratches, haze, fungus, fog or separation; nothing to affect image quality.
Focusing and aperature rings turn as smoothly as I’ve ever experienced! Mount is intact; filters and hoods screw onto lens effortlessly.
Cosmetics are very nice indeed- no dents, dings or damage to this lens. Chrome is intact & shining. Carefully inspect all images above for cosmetic information, as they are a part of the description for this auction.
The front lens cap is unique- it is a screw-in metal cap with the lens specifics on it!
