Asahi Super-Takumar 50mm 1:1.4 M42 Screw Mount Prime SLR Camera Lens

Description

Here is an Asahi Super-Takumar 50mm fast F/1.4 prime SLR camera lens, as shown.  No caps are included, but front will be protected by the (dirty) filter shown, and rear element will be protected for shipment.  Focus is smooth.  Aperture ring has nice clicks.  Aperture blades are quick and snappy with no signs of oil on them.  I looked through the lens toward a bright LED flashlight, though, and saw some fungus.  I tried to show this in one of the photos.  The optics also generally have a yellow tint that affects color in photos taken through it.  Cosmetically the lens is used, and has some signs of use, including damage to the filter thread.  A filter still screws in, but the thread looks pretty bad in one area, as shown in one of the photos.  Note that this lens has the M42 lens mount, which makes it pretty easy to use on other cameras.  I tested it with a Canon crop-sensor DSLR body (not included) and an inexpensive adapter (not included).  The last three photos are what I took through the lens shortly before listing it for sale.  The one of the power pole was taken hand-held.  The two of the trees were taken from about the same location but first with aperture wide open, then stopped way down, to show how aperture can be manipulated for creative effect.  I see that the shutter speed was a little too slow for me to hand-hold the camera for the last photo, but the effect still shows.  I set the camera on aperture priority.  The adapter I have automatically stops down the lens to whatever the aperture ring is set to, so the camera just changed the shutter speed based upon the aperture used.  This is a vintage lens that will also work on many M42 screw-mount 35mm film SLR bodies, though it will require stop-down metering.
